Monstrous Friday

“Monsters Forever” is the title of Tim Freitag’s debut album, released on 13 March. Tim Freitag aka Friday is not a chap but a band, and not one of their members is called Tim or Freitag. Don’t ask us why! What is certain is that Tim Freitag are purveyors of lusciously melodic and thus super-memorable indie-pop songs, garnished with videos to die for. Having announced their arrival with a handful of singles one of which, “Hold On”, has garnered well over a million clicks across the various platforms, “Monsters Forever” is released via Echo Kollektiv services.

Tim Freitag were formed in 2011 as a quartet by a bunch of musicians with a desire to find a vehicle for their own ideas instead of playing other peoples’ songs in other peoples’ bands. Their first single, “Another Heart has Lost its Place”, earned them a lot of friends. The band came to a crunching halt, however, when singer Janick Pfenninger landed a development stipend to spend six months in New York. Whilst this experience furnished him with plenty of song writing ideas, it took Tim Freitag several years to get going again. Adding a Daniel Gisler on keyboards, they tried again in 2017. Since then, they have clocked up well over one hundred live performances as well as half a dozen nominations for various international video awards.
