Rewinding Time with Science Fiction

LIUN + The Science Fiction Band is a project launched in 2012 by Lucia Cadotsch (vocals, composition, samples) and Wanja Slavin (synth, composition, sax). Their eerily gripping and constantly shape-shifting debut album “Time Rewind” was released on 15 November by Enja Records. It is, they say, “the creative product of Lucia Cadotsch and Wanja Slavin’s obsessive exploration of the interplay between musical genres and also their own complexly woven reference points. They create a contemporary expression that merges the digital and analogue worlds.”

Lucia Cadotsch was born into a musical family in Zurich in 1984. Inspired by her parents’ record collection, she discovered Miles Davis at an early age and went on to study as a singer in Berlin and Copenhagen. After several albums with Yellow Bird and Schneeweiss + Rosenrot (both Enja), she released the first album under her own steam, “Speak Low” (Enja) in 2016, before concentrating on LIUN + The Science Fiction Band. The original duo of Cadotsch and Slavin has now been expanded to include Dan Nicholls (synth) and Ludwig Wandinger (drums, samples) for live performances.
