None of Them Drop Number 4

15 November saw the release of a new album by the Zurich-based electro duo None of Them. Entitled “IIII”, thus baffling everyone with a passing understanding of Roman numerals, it is available from the fine independent label A Tree in the Field to whom None of Them recently signed. Less anarchic, perhaps, than previous outings, “IIII” contains several nuggets of moody electro pop, including the New Orderesque single “Golden Plate” and the breezy “More Than I Want”.

None of Them are singer, rapper and graffiti artist Signup aka Zainab Lascandri, and producer Mikal Holy. Both had been members of a variety of experimental outfits in Zurich when they met. Honing their style in the local squat and pop-up bar scene, they swiftly arrived at a highly danceable and entertaining electro/cold wave melange of twangy guitars, dirty synth noises and pounding beats. At last year’s m4music festival they took home the “Best Swiss Video Clip” award for their track “Hyenas On The Beach”.
