Melissa Kassab getting up to speed

“Trucker Speed” is the title of a new single from Melissa Kassab. It is taken from her new, second album “Rodeo”, released a few days later worldwide, digitally, and on cassette by Cheptel Records.

The Geneva-based but much-travelled singer/songwriter doesn’t do things slowly or complicatedly. Her marvellous debut album “Dog” was recorded in two days in the basement of a factory. The artist herself describes “Rodeo” as a “compilation of all sort of recordings I picked from the last few years. Mostly phone recordings, a couple of clean studio ones. A few covers I tried to make mine. I hope you’ll see the love.”

Blessed with a voice that effortlessly glides across the scales and words, Melissa Kassab sounds a bit like Alela Diane and a bit like Agnes Obel. Her songs, however, are entirely her own.
