Pyrame in search of the “Fine Life”

A Fine Life” is the debut EP of synth-pop singer/songwriter Pyrame, aka David Naville. Released by HIFI/LOFI Records on 28 June, the record was produced in Berlin with Matthieu Brismontier (MOWD).

Pyramus and Thisbe were an ill-fated pair of lovers in Babylon, immortalised by Ovid in his “Metamorphoses”. Let’s hope the modern-day version of Pyrame – French for Pyramus – is luckier in love than the original who committed suicide, wrongly thinking that his beloved had been munched by a lion. For fifteen years, honey-voiced David Naville travelled the world – Lausanne, Geneva, Paris, London, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Singapore, etc. – as a quantitative analyst before “retiring” to Berlin in order to liberate his muse. Working and practically living in a studio stuffed with old and new synths. “A Fine Life” is a hugely promising debut, featuring four subtly crafted and soulful synth-pop nuggets.
