Ta’Shan and Veronica Fusaro camping at Glastonbury Festival
Well, what can we say about Glastonbury Festival that you won’t know already? Precisely nothing, we fear. Simply, Glastonbury is the festival of festivals. Taking place for the first time in 1970 with T. Rex headlining and 1500 tickets sold, this year’s 36th edition will be headlined by the Killers, the Cure and Stormzy, with ticket sales estimated to be in the region of 135’000.
Amongst the performers this year are two Swiss artists, Ta’Shan and Veronica Fusaro. With an Indian father and a Swiss mother, Shanta “Ta’Shan” Venkatesh grew up in Berne and has spent time in Los Angeles. Now, she lives in London, a student at the BIMM music school. Having created quite a stir with her witty R&B/trap/pop-singles “Foodie” and “Comfie”, she has been invited to play on the BBC Music Introducing Stage. After her spirited shows with her excellent band at The Great Escape Festival in Brighton – including an appearance at the Swiss Music Export showcase – we confidently predict she will go down a storm in Glastonbury. A new EP, “Bombay Mami Volume 1”, will be released internationally on 5 July via FarMore Records and is distributed digitally by Believe. Ta’Shan is managed by FrontLine Music who also look after her booking.
Singer/songwriter Veronica Fusaro featured in last year’s SME showcase in Brighton. This young singer/songwriter, winner of the Demo Tape of the Year award 2016 at m4music, combines a fine guitar style with fine electronica-based arrangements, an instantly recognisable voice and a knack for writing memorable tunes. In Glastonbury, Veronica is scheduled to appear on the Rabbit Hole Stage on Saturday 29 June at 21:00. She, too, has a new record to promote. Her single “Lie to Me” was released on 31 May via Deepdive Records. An EP is promised for the autumn.
