Gina Été is all analogue

It is no mean feat to impress THE John Vanderslice (Mountain Goats, Spoon, Death Cab for Cutie, not to mention a series of highly praised solo albums) enough for him to want to record your debut-EP in his very own Tiny Telephone studio in San Francisco. 25year-old Gina Été has managed it. The six songs that resulted from these fully analogue sessions – no digital nastiness whatsoever! – are all quite different from each other in colour and feel and yet clearly the work of the same voice and mind.

Reminiscent at times of early Kate Bush and Sophie Hunger (who has also worked with Vanderslice), multi-instrumentalist Gina Été does not shy away from political subjects. The song “Mauern”, for instance, comes with a video filmed near Trump’s notorious Mexican wall. Two other songs, “Windmill” and “Hey You”, were inspired by Gina’s time on a Greek island, helping to build a community centre for refugees.

The EP “Oak Tree” is released in digital and physical form on 14 June 2019 via the Lauter label. An extensive PR campaign is planned for Germany and France.
