Pamela Méndez finds “Time”

“When I’m not involved in making music for a while, I get irritable and unpleasant to be around”, says Pamela Méndez. A perfectionist as well as a woman who has the patience to wait for the right circumstances to arrive, she has waited eight years to release a follow-up to her much admired and discussed debut album, “I Will Be Loved”. It is entitled “Time” and was released at the end of February on Pamela’s own label, Promote Love Records, distributed by Record Jet/Edel.

“Art pop” is probably the label best suited to describe Pamela Méndez’s music. Carried by a powerful and by now gloriously matured and elastic voice, she manages to be poppy and experimental at the same time. Having previously worked with Bernese percussion wizard Julian Sartorius, she has now enlisted the services of the rather more melodious percussionist Nicolas Stocker (also a member of Nik Bärtsch’s Mobile) as well as synthesist Luzius Schuler and bassist Adrien Guerne. “Time” was co-produced by David Odlum (Tinariwen, Glen Hansard, Gemma Hayes).
