Heavy as Zatokrev

They don’t come heavier, darker and louder than Zatokrev, the doom– and post-metal quartet from Basel. The band name means “blood for this” in Czech, apparently. Formed in 2002, the band have released four albums so far. Now they’re sharing one with their American soul buddies, Minks. “Bigod” is released on 5 October by the Belgian label Consouling Sounds and Czar of Crickets, the label formed by head Zatokrev, Frederyk Rotter.

This is what their homepage says about the encounter with Minsk: “I remember a long time ago how Minsk’s second full-length album “The Ritual Fires Of Abandonment” blew us away, it had a remarkable impact on our own creation and made us follow their fantastic past & further releases. The first time we met was in 2009, when I went to see their very inspiring show at the “Böröm pöm pöm” in Oberentfelden. Through the years our paths crossed again and again, our friendship and musical respect to each other was growing until we finally started working on Bigod. We’re very thankful for this unique collaboration.”.

A joint European tour throughout October and early November will take Zatokrev and Minsk to Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic, Croatia, Bulgaria, Serbia, Hungary, Slovakia, France and Switzerland.
