H E X deliver debut at last

It’s taken them a long time – four years, to be precise – but Geneva-based  H E X  have made it. The  self-titled debut album saw the light of day on 25 May. It was released on Hummus Records, Distribution is via Orchard/Sony (US), Plastic Head (UK/EU) and Membran (GSA).

H E X  are the brainchild of much-travelled guitarist Vincent Hänggi who formed the band in 2011 as a trio. Now expanded to a quintet, with Laure Betris from the band Kassette joining in 2016, the unusual line-up consists of guitars, drums, sounds and various bits of electronic machinery. The result is a dense and dark, quasi-orchestral and hypnotically repetitive rock sound reminiscent of the more dramatic moments of György Ligeti or John Carpenter.
