Closet Disco Queen with new album
Anyone forming a mental image of Closet Disco Queen on the basis of the band’s name will most likely end up in entirely the wrong corner of the musical universe. Closet Disco Queen sound nothing like disco band in disguise, nor are they a comedy combo. In fact, Closet Disco Queen are a duo consisting of Luc Hess, drums, and Jona Nido, guitar. Their music is difficult to define. Purely instrumental and seriously heavy in tone, it is closer to the post-rock tradition of Tortoise or the noisier improvised passages of early Amon Düül 2 albums than any kind of present-day metal.
12 June sees the release of Closet Disco Queen’s debut album on Hummus Records, Geneva-based Division Records and This Charming Man Records (Germany). The album is available in a variety of limited edition packages including test pressings, hats and shirts. The band will be undertaking an extensive European tour to support the release.
