Swiss Music Export @ The Great Escape 14 – 16 May 2015, Brighton UK
The month of May is swiftly approaching – and with it The Great Escape Festival. TGE is without a doubt one of the most popular and important independent festivals in Europe. For three days, the picturesque bars, streets, back alleys and beaches of Brighton are transformed into a hive of musical activity. Offering countless opportunities for convivial networking, talent spotting and, yes, partying, TGE attracts artists, promoters, managers and generally everyone who is anyone in the European independent music sector, including – of course! – Swiss Music Export.
As in previous years, the Swiss showcase/business mixer will be taking place at the Komedia Studio Bar in the middle of Brighton’s richly varied shopping area.
Swiss Business Mixer/Showcase
Thursday 14 May 2015 – 12:00 – 16:00
Komedia Studio Bar, 44 – 47 Gardner Street, Brighton
13:30 – 14:00 Puts Marie
14:30 – 15:00 Klaus Johann Grobe
15:30 – 16:00 Kadebostany
Following on from the great success of last year’s showcase with Oy, Pablo Nouvelle and the Animen, SME in collaboration with Pro Helvetia, Fondation Suisa, and, for the first time this year, the Embassy of Switzerland in the UK, will once again be organising a combined showcase/business mixer, this time with Klaus Johann Grobe, Puts Marie and Kadebostany. All three bands are also appearing in TGE’s official programme.
Puts Marie
A five-piece from Biel, Puts Marie write classy and dynamic rock songs with a hint of hip-hop and a strong dose of „chanson“. With years of experience, Puts Marie are a great live act.
Puts Marie will also be appearing at the Queens Hotel, Thursday 14 May, 19:45
Kadebostany
Multi-media project Kadebostany combine intensely danceable electro rhythms with the melodic traditions of an imaginary Balkan country and the voice of Amina who somehow manages to be ice maiden and blues queen in equal parts.
Kadebostany will also be appearing at the Brighthelm, Thursday/Friday 14/15 May 01:30
Klaus Johann Grobe
Frequently name-dropped as one of the most exciting new bands around by the British music press, the duo combine pulsating synth grooves with German lyrics and psychedelically hypnotic melodies. They have taken the essential ingredients of 1970s “Krautrock” and made them contemporary.
Klaus Johann Grobe will also be appearing at the The Hope, Friday 15 May, 20:15
