Pablo Nouvelle signs for Black Butter Records
The most important dance magazine in the UK, Mixmag, called it “essential listening”. “Nouvelle returns soul music to the future,” opined the Guardian. BBC 6 and xfm have played his tracks, too. This, even though Berne-based and Swiss Music Export-supported Pablo Nouvelle hasn’t yet released a full album – officially, at least (a sample-laden collection of his older work is available for free download from his website).
This sorry state of affairs is set to change, however, with the news that Nouvelle has signed with London-based independent label Black Butter Records. The first release under the new banner is an EP, “You Don’t Understand”, scheduled to appear on 8 August. Lulu James, ALX and Fiona Daniel are the featured guest voices.
With a proven track record of discovering innovative young musicians and guiding them to success, Black Butter Records is one of the most successful independent labels operating in the UK today. Amongst the artists signed to Black Butter are Clean Bandit, James Newman, Kidnap Kid, Rudimental and Woz.
Pablo Nouvelle has also newly signed to Four Artists Booking Agency in Stuttgart. Four Artists was founded in 1998 and is majority-owned by the hugely successful German rap crew die Fantastischen Vier.
Throughout the summer, Pablo Nouvelle will be performing at various festivals in Switzerland, including Blue Balls Lucerne, Paleo Festival Nyon, Zürich Openair and Festival de La Cité in Lausanne. He will also be supporting Pet Shop Boys at Live at Sunset, Zurich.
