Inferno Festival – Metal and more

The first Swiss edition of the Inferno Metal Festival took place in February 2011. The concept proved instantly popular and the second edition in 2012 swiftly sold out, attracting more than 2000 metal fans and metal business professionals. Inferno is not just designed to be a conventional metal festival, however. The idea is to present a multi-disciplinary cultural event incorporating modern dance, performance art, photography, art and sculpture as well as music. Thus, the festival is now partnering the Ecole de Jazz et de Musique Actuelle (EJMA), Lausanne Tourism, Dém’ART, Foundation CMA, and Giger Museum to present a number of special events.

Part of the festival are a number of conference events organised in collaboration with SWISS MUSIC EXPORT and Fondation Romande pour la Chanson et les Musiques Actuelles (FCMA).
On Saturday, 16th March, 13:30 – 14:30 : Michael Berberian, CEO Season of Mist, will be chairing a conference on the subject of “Metal and Albums – an assessment of the situation of Metal production in Europe and the rest of the world”. This is followed at 14:45 – 15 45 by a panel discussion with Gunnar Sauermann (Metal Hammer Germany), Jonathan Selzer (Metal Hammer UK) and Sven (Hard Rock Mag France) about the best approaches to the international promotion of Metal. These two conferences will take place in the auditorium of EJMA.

On the live performance side, this year’s special event is an original production for the Inferno Festival in Lausanne by the Waldruna – Gjallarhorn Project. This project features Swiss Alphorns and Norwegian traditional instruments such as horns, flutes and percussion instruments and will be presented exclusively in the unique venue of the Chillon Castle in Montreux.  Amongst the other Swiss and international bands performing during the festival are Primordial, My Dying Bride, Dark Funeral, Anaal Nathrakh, Aura Noir and Samael,
