Swiss Vibes

The 2011 Swiss Vibes compilation, distributed by Vibrations and SoJazz magazines together with Pro Helvetia, showcases the following domestic talent: Mama Rosin, Honey For Petzi, Hell’s Kitchen, Anna Aaron, Plaistow, The National Fanfare of Kadebostany, The Bianca Story, Oy, Dimlite, Raaga Trio, Kara Sylla Ka, Malcolm Braff, Marc Perronoud Trio, Ingrid Lukas, Imperial Tiger Orchestra, Olivia Pedroli, Who Trio, Rusconi and Samuel Blaser.

The compilation is the second of its kind. In 2009, with the Swiss music scene clearly booming, Vibrations magazine and Pro Helvetia, the Swiss Arts Council, joined forces to create a CD for the magazine’s Swiss and French subscribers. Included in Vibrations’ March issue, the meticulously designed compilation presented established stars of the Swiss stage such as Erik Truffaz, Jérémie Kisling and Sophie Hunger alongside talented jazz, pop and electro acts, all miles from the usual Swiss clichés. Some of them, including Filewile, Grand Pianoramax and Lole, have since gone on to make a name for themselves at high-profile festivals or with recordings.

In the meantime, Swiss music has kept on cooking, and the new Swiss Vibes compilation, a joint product of Vibrations, So Jazz and Pro Helvetia and backed up by a blog, is proof.
