The Eurosonic Festival is Europe’s premier showcase festival for breaking artists from across the continent. What started out more than 20 years ago as a one-day festival to promote Dutch bands has grown into a three-day affair with international profile, featuring more than 180 European bands performing at 20 venues to industry representatives and fans alike. Hosted and recorded by NPB-3FM (Netherlands) in collaboration with VRT-Studio Brussel (Belgium), DR-P3 (Denmark), SR-P3 (Sweden) and the BBC (United Kingdom), the Eurosonic festival also enjoys the annual support of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), with no fewer than 24 EBU Member organizations sending 26 acts to perform in Groningen.

BOY: Thu, 13 January @ Schouwburg / Kruithuis, 20:45-21:25
The name may be misleading. Hamburg-based folk-pop act BOY is fronted by two girls: Switzerland’s shooting star Valeska Steiner and German bass player Sonja Glass. Currently working on their debut album, they’re eager to present their set to the Eurosonic crowd!

FILEWILE: Thu, 13 January @ Grand Theatre, main 21:30-22:15
Hailing from Switzerland’s most creative neighbourhood in Bern, Filewile have transformed from a two-men-show into a proper four-piece-band. Cherishing the imperfections of old analogue synths and tools, they’ve created a unique electro-dub style.

Just before hitting the UK for a wide-spread tour, these guys are ready to blow away the Eurosonic audience with their trademark Cajun Garage-Blues. Not only since their highly acclaimed performance at “Later… with Jools Holland”, one of the Swiss acts to watch out for in 2011!
