Open Season: dates all over Europe

Keep My Fire Burning…the crew from Switzerland doesn’t let the fire go out! In just a few years, the band has emerged from the suburbs of Bern to the best clubs in Switzerland, to Europe’s big cities and to the rotation of the national radio stations.
And the winner is … Junior Tshaka!

Junior Tshaka, Neuchâtel’s reggae sensation, beat out 445 contenders in Internet voting and won over a jury of ten with his performance at the Rototom Sunsplash in Udine, Italy, to be named 2009 victor in the European Reggae Contest.
Gurtenfestival

This year’s Gurtenfestival, to be held in Bern from 16 to 19 July, boasts an impressive programme, with Kings of Leon, Oasis, Franz Ferdinand and Peter Fox as headliners and a slew of top Swiss acts, including Stress, Seven, Heidi Happy, Bonaparte, Solange La Frange, Electric Blanket, Da Cruz, The Delilahs, Eluveitie and The Gamebois, to name just a few.
Paléo Festival

More than 30 years after what was then known as the “First Folk Festival” attracted 1,800 visitors to the chambers of Nyon’s town assembly, the Paléo Festival is a pillar of the European music scene and continues to grow, becoming more professional with every passing year. This year, some 227,000 to the Festival’s Asse grounds (84 hectares incl. parking) above Nyon can choose from among more than 120 concerts.
Schweizgenössisch Festival in Berlin 31 July to 6 August feat. STIMMHORN and KUTTI MC & One Shot Orchestra, among others

Based at RADIALSYSTEM V, the Swiss temporarily take over Berlin in the dog days of summer, with a week of Swiss music, dance, theatre and film on either side of Switzerland’s independence day on 1 August and the erection of a virtual alpine panorama in the midst of the urban jungle.
Moonraisers summer tour 2009 & French release

As their fame spreads and with their single „Rise Up“ itself rising in the Swiss-German charts, the Moonraisers are embarking on a summer tour of Switzerland and beyond. Currently to be seen as support for Groundation (USA) in France, they will be making appearances soon at the Gurtenfestival (18 July) and the Gampel Openair (16 August).
Popkomm 2009 cancelled

Berlin’s Popkomm will not take place this year. The organizers cite a massive drop in the number of participants expected as the reason for the cancellation, but plan to stage the trade fair-cum-festival in 2010 as usual.

Navel: new single, CD release

Navel’s new single “John Q. Public” / “Here’s A Song” will be out on 7 August, distributed worldwide by Louisville Records / Roadrunner Records (digital) and Cargo Records (7-inch vinyl). Then on 24 August they will release their CD Frozen Souls all over Europe!
Bonaparte: German & Austrian dates

Bonaparte will be taking its ecstatic live show on tour in Germany and Austria this summer.
