Thierry Romanens awarded prize for French-language cultural; Nicolas Fraissinet distinguished

Yverdon’s Thierry Romanens has been awarded the “coup de coeur francophone” prize, which goes to artists from Africa, Belgium, Canada and Switzerland, by the Académie Charles Cros in Montauban. The jury singled out his most recent album, "Je m’appelle Romanens" (released in March), in explaining its decision. Romanens joins the ranks of other Swiss laureates, such as Pierre Lautomne (2008), Zedrus (2007), and K (2006). The Académie Charles Cros, which comprises some fifty specialists in music and culture, was founded in 1948 in memory of Charles Cros (1842-1888), a poet colleague of Rimbaud and Verlaine and a pioneer in recording technology.

Meanwhile, Nicolas Fraissinet, another Swiss artist, came in third in the public competition at the "Alors….Chante!" festival, also held in Montauban from 18 to 24 May.
