Open Air St Gallen
29 June – 1 July, 2007

Openair St Gallen, held every summer, is one of the biggest music festivals in Switzerland. Highlights of the programme for 2007 include Arcade Fire, Kaiser Chiefs, LCD Soundsystem, Snow Patrol, Arctic Monkeys, Placebo, Bright Eyes and Klaxons.
Swiss acts playing during the festival include:

The Loops, DJ Soulcrates , Snitch, Breitbild, Stress, The Bianca Story, Stevans, Backlash, Baum Squad, Mad Manoush, Wurzel 5 and Michi’s Spielgruppe.

Paleo
24th – 29th of July, 2007 / Nyon

Since its creation in 1976, Paléo Festival has become the biggest open-air music event in Switzerland. Made possible by the work of 3,700 volunteer staff, it plays host each year, over a period of six days and on six stages, to 120 concerts in front of audiences totalling more than 220,000. The Festival line-up represents a balance between established stars and new talent and includes rock, French chanson, world music, reggae, hip hop, classical music and street theatre. Over 100 food and craft stalls, 5 restaurants, a day nursery, a children’s play area and a free campsite are made available to festivalgoers.

The FMR stage in an area situated between the main Festival entrance and the campsite. Every evening, it hosts two concerts and a DJ set, all from the Swiss music scene. Concerts are free of charge!

Gurten Festival
19th to 22nd July / Bern

The Festival takes place on the wooded Gurten hilltop, a venue which is considered one of the most scenic in all of Switzerland. The Gurten, Bern’s local peak, encompasses the largest public park in the region and is a popular destination for outings. Getting up to the Gurten takes either twenty minutes on foot or only seven minutes with the newly renovated railway. 35,000 fans celebrated last year and this years international line up includes : Basement Jaxx, The Twang and Cypress Hill.

There is a Swiss programme every night on the West stage at Gurten showcasing all the best in Swiss dance, rock , hip-hop and electronica:

Montreux Jazz Festival
6th – 21st July

Apart from the two large halls featuring international live acts, this year there are three different nightlife venues all with very different atmosphere and music styles. This year the festival is producing a much bigger programme of its regular free night events.

The three venues include:
Montreux Jazz Cafe highlighting live funk, rock and pop jam sessions until 5am, many Swiss bands will feature too including

19th July – Swiss soul band Seven
8th July – mx3.ch – a night from the Swiss music website
9th July – William White

MDH Club the area for electronic music during the festival – DJ’s and live acts – some of the Swiss acts featured will include Alex Attias, Luciano, Kid Chocolat, Sonja Moonear.

Studio 41 , giving house music its first regular base at the festival including a cocktail garden – Swiss names featured include Swiss house music pioneer Mr.Mike and Banditz from Zurich.
