Swiss Music Export at the Waves Festival 29 September – 1 October 2016

Swiss Music Export has been an admirer of the bijou Waves Vienna Festival from the very beginning. Of course, we will be there again this year, presenting a Swiss Business Mixer complete with a live music showcase.

The Waves Festival – even without its Slovakian twin event in Bratislava – is still a geographically perfect platform for musicians and business professionals from East and West to compare visions and strike up new friendships.

To make the prospect of Waves even more attractive, Swiss Music Export offers a special discount price for the Pro Pass giving access to all concerts, the conference, workshops, receptions and the delegates tour for only € 45.-. This marks an amazing reduction of more than a third from the normal price of € 75.-!  This offer is valid until Wednesday 28 September. For more information please contact mixer@swiss-music-export.com.

Additionally, Austrian Airlines is offering a 15% discount on all applicable fares for Waves Vienna Music Festival & Conference participants: More information

Swiss Business Mixer in the Projektraum @ WUK
Friday, 30 September 2016, 16:30 – 17:30

There will be drinks and finger food courtesy of Swiss Music Export, Fondation Suisa and the Swiss Embassy in Vienna. Live music will be provided by the rather wonderful Klaus Johann Grobe and their smart and groovy post-Krautrock. Having toured in the USA in July, the duo will stop off in Vienna in the course of a massive tour of the UK, Germany, France and Luxembourg. Their wittily entitled second album „Spagat der Liebe“ was released to great acclaim in spring.

Klaus Johann Grobe will also appear as part of the regular Waves programFriday, 30 September 2016, 22:00 – 22:45 @ WUK Foyer

Four more bands from Switzerland are also part of the Waves Vienna line-up:

Klischée
Friday 30 September, 23:15 – 00:00 @ WUK Foyer

Having moved away from their original electro swing sound, the band from Berne mix electronica with brass to create a unique blend of blues, funk, disco, house, swing, and even afro-pop and chanson. Playing their new album, “Bend the Rules”, the band also knows how to put on a highly entertaining live show.

Rival Kings
Friday 30 September, 19:30 – 20:15 @ Ottakringer Stage

With their big melodies, big guitars and generally big sound, Rival Kings are a stadium band in the making. Inspired by the likes of Killers and Kings of Leon, the six-piece from Lucerne will release their second album „War“ on 30 September on deepdive Records.

The Souls
Friday 30 September, 20:45 – 21:30 @ skip c.l.a.s.s. Stage

The Souls from Thun are a dramatic six-piece rock outfit with a light melodic touch and – occasionally – a banjo. After a handful of acclaimed EPs, the Souls finished off their debut album in Los Angeles with producer Greg Collins (U2, Eels, etc). It was released in August on deepdive Records.

Mule & Man
Friday 30 September, 23:15 – 00:00 @ Ottakringer Stage

Mule & Man are a new “super duo” formed by Bonaparte and Kid Simius, aka Tobias Jundt and Jose Antonio Garcia Soler. Jundt is the brains behind the hydra-like music spectacular Bonaparte, Soler is a studio wizard and DJ who has worked with Masimoto. Together, they combine the best of both their worlds to produce expansive and euphoric techno big on melody, wit and beats. Mule & Man’s Debut EP „One Hand Clap“ was released on 2 September 2016 on Staatsakt Records.
