Deepdive Music goes international with a two day festival in London

Deepdive is a music agency, record label and publishing company founded in 1999 in Arch, canton Berne. Whilst concentrating mostly on Swiss artists, their roster also comprises acts from the UK and US. A few years ago, Deepdive established a two-pronged yearly mini-festival in Zurich and Lausanne as a showcase for their artists.

This year, for the first time, this festival will travel abroad. For two nights, five of Deepdive’s best Swiss acts Rival Kings, The Souls, Death by Chocolate, The Chikitas and Sons of Morpheus – will descend on the legendary Borderline in Soho for one night, followed by the Forge in Camden the next. Another Deepdive band, the British country folk outfit Billy Vincent, will be featured as special guest.

Rival Kings
Rival Kings are a six-piece from Lucerne whose reputation as a great live act has spread swiftly thanks to dynamic performances at festivals like Gurten, Zurich Openair, Stimmen (Germany), Bad Bonn and M4Music. Their debut album „Citizens“, released in 2014 and offering a blend of rock music located somewhere between Kings of Leon and the poppier end of Radiohead, tickled the lower regions of the Swiss charts.

The Souls
The Souls from Thun are another six-piece rock outfit. Previously called Undiscovered Soul, the band felt that their new-found sense of maturity warranted a name change. After the release of a handful of acclaimed EPs, the Souls finished off a US tour with a stint in a Los Angeles studio with producer Greg Collins (U2, Eels, etc) to record their new album, to be released later this year.

Death by Chocolate
With their stylish old-skool Hammond, this five-piece from Biel offer up classic 1970s UK-style rock with a powerful sense of dynamics, a singer with an impressive soul rock voice, and many great melodies. Their new album was produced by Ronald Bood (Mando Diao).

The Chikitas
There are plenty of guitar/drums duos around in the wake of the White Stripes, none, however, is quite as much fun as the Chikitas from Geneva. Lynn Maring and Saskia Fuertes are a hurricane of noise, distortion, wit and catchy choruses. Their new album „Wrong Motel“ will be out at the end of April.

Sons of Morpheus
High octane guitar/drums/bass trio Sons of Morpheus from Basel recorded their riff-laden last album in the USA with Jim Waters (Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Sonic Youth, etc.), which says it all, really. Firmly rooted in the blues rock tradition, Sons of Morpheus somehow manage to sound incredibly tight and loosely psychedelic at the same time.
