Shakra with new album – reunited with Mark Fox

Formed in the late 1990s, Shakra are one of the most enduring and successful hard rock bands in Switzerland. Their latest album “High Noon”, released on 29 January by Universal in Switzerland and AFM Records internationally, completes the dozen. It follows on from “Powerplay” which brought the band their first chart topper in Switzerland in 2013.

“High Noon” marks both a fresh start and a kind of home-coming for the band. After an absence of five years, Mark Fox, whose powerful vocals as well as personality were sorely missed during his five-year absence, has returned to the fold. After the band’s last singer John Prakesh had decided to leave, the survival of Shakra hung on a very thin thread for a while. The reunion with Fox was triggered off by none other than Chris von Rohr, member of Switzerland’s greatest hard rock export, Krokus. It was a telephone call to Shakra guitarist Thomas Muster received from Chris which convinced him to let bygones be bygones and begin the process of rebuilding the bridges to their old singer. Von Rohr also acted as an “adviser” during the recording of the new album, helping to choose the songs that made the final selection. “High Noon” is typical, straight-down-the-line melodic Shakra hard rock. “”I’m not just proud of High Noon,” says Muster, “but really extremely damned proud and very, very happy with it.”
