AÏsha Devi album ready (more or less)

Following on from her “Conscious Cunt EP”, released last spring, Swiss-Nepalese producer, studio experimenter and vocalist Aïsha Devi releases her debut album „Of Matter and Spirit“ via the Houndstooth, the label started by the legendary Fabric Club in London. The album is available worldwide now – a vinyl version, alas, has been delayed.

Geneva-born Aïsha Devi is not quite the newcomer she appears to be, however.  She had already enjoyed considerable success in her previous guise as Kate Wax before she adopted her new name. Defining her style as “danse noire” (Danse Noire is also the name of her own experimental record label), hers are dark and spooky soundscapes made all the more other-worldly by her ghostly and nebulously exotic vocal style. „My process of creation takes its source in meditation, mantras, shamanism, healing frequencies…“ says the artist: „The idea is to trigger a social and spiritual awareness through music.“

To support the album release, Aïsha Devi has embarked on a European tour. Having played in Estonia, Norway and Germany in October, she will be performing in Belgium in November, followed by a CD launch party on 20 November at Birthdays in London.
