ELECTRON Festival, 3 – 5 April, Geneva

Fiercely independent, the organisers of the Electron festival in Geneva write the following on their homepage:

“At a time where events of electronic music of all kinds prosper, both in Switzerland and abroad, the Electron Festival cultivates its distinct character and reasserts its formidable autonomy. A festival geared toward independence since its inception, it is certainly disadvantaged – it’s difficult to financially compete with the big war machines – but it also benefits from an extraordinary freedom of tone and expression that make it one of the eagerly awaited and popular festivals in the Swiss electronic landscape. The artists themselves make no mistake, they now see the Swiss event as a necessary step on the world map of electronic music, like Boys Noize, which will celebrate with us the sole Swiss date of the event tour celebrating the 10 years of existence of its label.”

As in previous years, Swiss Music Export takes a great interest in the event. In collaboration with the Electron organisers, SME is coordinating invitations to professionals from abroad to attend the festival and make use of its various networking opportunities.

Two matchmaking events will take place on Friday, 3 April and Saturday, 4 April, from 12:00 to 15:00. Here, Swiss artists appearing at the festival have the opportunity to meet professionals from Switzerland and abroad to present their projects and ideas. From 15:30 onwards on both days, emerging talents from Switzerland will appear live alongside established international artists.

SME will run a stall during those two days to explain the structure of the organisation and respond to any questions from artists and professionals alike.

At 18:00 on Friday, 3 April, SME in partnership with FCMA and Radio Couleur 3 will celebrate the launch of an album, “Electro Libre”, compiled to showcase the latest talents from the world of electronica.

All events will take place in the pleasant surroundings of the Scène de Jour, 10 rue des Vieux Grenadiers, 1205 Geneva.
