Cortez touring Europe

Geneva-based Cortez will need no introduction amongst connoisseurs of seriously heavy, out-there, post-hardcore metal. After a brief absence, the band returned last year with a revamped line-up and a new album, “Phoebus”. Guitarist Samuel Vaney retired from the stage to concentrate on song writing and acting as the band’s live mixer. His role on stage has been taken over by Antoine Tinguely, previously a member of Berserk For Tea Time.

Founded in 2001, Cortez released their debut album “Initial” in 2005. They subsequently toured across Europe several times, supporting, amongst others, the Dillinger Escape Plan, Isis, Unsane, Jesu, Gojira, Burst, and the Ocean. Over the years, the trio – drums, vocal, guitars – have become one of the most intense, not to mention loudest, live experiences in Europe.

Starting on 5 February in Roubaix, Cortez will undertake their own “Bright Phoebus” mini-tour of France with further dates in Dunkerque, Nates, Tulle and Vagney. After a fortnight’s break they will be supporting sludgy Canadian noise rockers KEN mode on ten more dates in Switzerland, France, Germany, Czech Republic, and the Netherlands.
