Peter Kernel ready for the next step

“Hello,” wrote Peter Kernel – aka Aris and Barbara – in an e-mail last June: “Throughout the past three years we sweated over 240 concerts across Europe and Canada, we fooled around with our new project Camilla Sparksss and we spent our free time locked up in the basement working on new ideas. On June 9th we’ll begin the journey towards the release of our new album with a special double single release: “High Fever” and “It’s Gonna Be Great”…”

Now, the wait is over: 19 January (23 January for Germany) sees the release, at last, of Peter Kernel’s second album, “Thrill Addict” on the band’s own On The Camper Records. It will be available on CD, gatefold vinyl double-album, digital download and – in collaboration with US label Dallas Distortion Music – on cassette tape (!). The album can be pre-ordered here.

Best to listen to it yourself: It is pretty much impossible to do Peter Kernel’s music justice with mere words. Undoubtedly guitar-driven, it is also percussive, rocky, even rockabilly-ish. Sometimes it is minimalist and repetitive like techno or electro, but then it surprises with odd tempo changes and weird sound-effects; and of course there is Barbara’s unique singing style. Oh, and they write great melodies!

Typically for a band with a consistently original approach to making music and making a living from it, Peter Kernel offer their latest work not just in an orthodox cd, download or vinyl package. It is also available in „bundles“ with limited edition or even unique hand-painted t-shirts. To support the release of their album Peter Kernel will set off on their Thrill Addict Tour, taking in a dozen dates in France, Germany and a home-coming gig in Lugano, Switzerland
