Label Suisse Festival, Lausanne, 19 – 21 September

Label Suisse is a free festival taking place in various locations in Lausanne.

It aims to represent Swiss music in all its abundant stylistic variety, ranging from rock, pop, folk and electro all the way to French chanson, classic music and choral singing. In collaboration with the Swiss Ministry of Culture, Pro Helvetia, Présence Suisse, Radio RTS, SRF, RSIFrench-Suisse public Radios and the Canton of Basel Stadt, the festival will offer 86 concerts and special projects taking place in six concert venues and one large open air square. Radio SRF/RTS and RSI will transmit a number of concerts live. Around 100’000 spectators are expected. The full program will be unveiled on 27 August.

This year for the first time, part of the festival will be the award ceremony for the Prix Suisse de Musique, organised by the Ministry of Culture. Amongst the nominees are Franz Treichler (Young Gods), Mama Rosin, Corin Curschellas, Reverend Beat-Man, Hans Kennel and Erika Stucky.

The most notable of many notable events will be a panel discussion organised by Label Suisse in cooperation with Swiss Music Export, FCMA, and Association des Musiciens Suisses. The subject of the discussion is: “In what language will I sing?” In a country which recognises four official languages, none of which is the lingua franca of rock’n’roll, English, this is a question every artist has to ask himself at the very beginning of his career. Many never quite resolve the problem – or they sing in several languages.

Panel: “Dans quelle langue je chante?”
Saturday, 20 September, 11:00; BCV Concert Hall.
This event is open to the public!
