INFERNO Festival, Lausanne

The fourth edition of the Swiss INFERNO Festival will be taking place on 27 & 28 June 2014 in Lausanne. INFERNO, as the name suggests, is a festival dedicated to heavy metal and the more extreme forms of rock music. Swiss Music Export is a partner of the festival. During its two days, an international line-up of sixteen bands will be performing in two venues, Docks and Base. Five of the groups are Swiss: When Icarus Falls, Cortez, Kehlvin, Bölzer and Darkrise. Part of the festival are three art exhibitions, including one dedicated to the work of the recently departed H.R. Giger. The Swiss artist was best known around the world for his sets for the “Alien” film saga and for his album cover for Emerson Lake & Palmer’s “Brain Salad Surgery”. Beyond that, his influence on the visual language of rock music is incalculable.

One aim of the Inferno Festival is to help Swiss bands build a network of contacts with musicians and music business professionals abroad. To this end, Swiss Music Export has invited a number of important representatives to the festival. These include Gunnar Sauermann (Metal Hammer magazine, Germany; Head of Promotion Europe for Season of Mist); Véronique Mouteau (Hard Rock magazine, France); Simon Füllemann (All Access Agency, Norway); Carin Vinzent (Legacy magazine, Germany); Michael Berberian (founder and owner Season of Mist record label, France/USA), and Jan-Martin Jensen (Inferno Festival, Norway).

Inferno Festival Switzerland is an off-shoot of Inferno Festival Norway which was held for the 14th time earlier this year in Oslo. This year, for the first time, an Inferno Festival was held in India.
