Accordionist and singer Erika Stucky releases her new album “Black Widow” on 4 October on Berlin’s Traumton Records label. To support the release, she will be touring Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Italy from October. The album was recorded with multi-instrumentalist David Coulter (he has worked with Robert Wilson and Tom Waits in the “opera” The Black Rider”, with Damon Albarn in Gorillaz, with Peter Hammill, Pete Townshend, Kronos Quartet, Pogues, Test Department, Tim Robbins and many others), multi-instrumentalist Terry Edwards (Nick Cave, Tom Waits, Tindersticks and others) and percussionist Michael Blair (Tom Waits, Lou Reed, Jeff Buckley).

“Black Widow” is Erika Stucky’s seventh album under her own name. Born in San Francisco, she spent her teenage years in the Swiss mountains of the Valais. After studying music in Paris and drama in San Francisco, she returned to Switzerland once again and, in 1985, formed the award-winning a-capella vocal-and-bass outfit the Sophisticrats. Later, she experimented with pop, folklore and electronica with the band Bubble-Town, with Jazz in George Gruntz’s orchestra and with Carla Bley, and with a Jimi Hendrix-project involving musicians like Christy Doran and Jamaaladeen Tacuma. In 2011 she toured in “Raindogs Revisited” where Tom Waits’s “Rain Dogs” album was re-interpreted by a number of musicians including David Coulter and Terry Edwards.
